Durus & Mollis
Konstverket Durus och Mollis har inspirerats av allén med lindar som omger dem, av lindarnas stammar och särskilt deras speciella knölar på stammarna. De är både en hyllning till lindarna och ett komplement till dem. Figurerna omtolkar lindstammarnas utbuktningar till nya organiska former. De återger två sekvenser: den ena formen sträcker sig uppåt framåt och den andra uppåt bakåt. Skulpturerna strävar mot vertikalitet (liksom träden, och domkyrkans torn) samtidigt som de är tillgängliga, möjliga att leka och klänga på.

”Framtidens köksträdgård. En husbil som stannat till, havererat eller bara blivit kvar. En odling av lust eller nöd? För överlevnad eller nöje? Här odlas bränsle för kroppen och bränsle till bilmotorn. En Resande köksträdgård.
Köksträdgården odlas i ett förtält som blivit växthus. Den sprider sig också utanför. Trädgårdens form är tillfällig, lite klumpig och trevande. Hemmagjord och långt från vedertagna, stilrena trädgårdsideal. Växterna är vanliga köksväxter sådda utan snören.
Resande köksträdgård utstrålar växtkraft och en barnslig lust, en vilja till det spontana och tillfälliga. Här finns lätthet – i frånvaron av tvingande planering – och en riktning mot en möjlig framtid, med mobilt boende och mobil odling. Resande köksträdgård är en informell kropp som sugit sig fast i den historiska slottsmiljön för en sommar. Växterna håller kvar husbilen vid jorden för en stund.
I trädgårdskonsten är trädgården ofta en bild av världen och världsordningen. Resande köksträdgård inrymmer en värld i förändring, strukturer som försvinner och nya som uppstår.
Slumpen är kanske ingen slump, även om vi aldrig får veta om det var bränslet som tog slut eller reslusten. Det är också osäkert om odlingen är för överlevnad eller nöje. Resande köksträdgård – liksom framtiden – är öppen för diskussion.”
Soon, in Karlstad, there will be spheres glowing in the dark on the gloomy facades of the Tingvallahallarna. The spheres will jump around you like balls in daytime and light up your path at night, like planets. ”Homo Ludens – den lekande människan”, is the name of this project. Kultur- och fritidsnämnden har beslutat om en konstnärlig gestaltning på Tingvallahallarna.

Moviken art
På 1700-talet upptäcktes järnmalm i Bjuråker. Movikens masugn anlades vid Norra Dellens strand och togs i drift 1797. Storhetstiden var mellan 1827 och 1856. När man 1903 byggde den nya masugnen i tidstypisk schweitzerstil var allt som fanns kvar av den gamla byggnaden en rostugnspipa. På grund av masugnens relativt låga ålder och dess livaktighet långt in på 30-talet har byggnaden blivit ett av landets bäst bevarade industriminnen.
I denna märkvärdiga byggnads mörka inre tar sommarens konstnärer, sex till antalet, platsen i anspråk. I stora industrihallar eller små valv och utsprång ger konstnärerna platsen en ny innebörd. Med måleri, skulptur och videoproduktioner väcks den insomnade masugnen till liv, för att under några sommarmånader generera idéer, tankar och upplevelser.

The Silver Tree

Det står vid trappan framför Kulturens Hus och är gjort av blankpolerat rostfritt stål. Trädet står där som en välkomsthälsning. Det smyckar området framför Kulturens Hus och kan fungera som en mötesplats. På vintern är den uppvärmd.
Träd rymmer rika symbolvärden i många kulturer. Silverträdet har idékopplingar både till norrländskt skogsbruk och till gruvdrift med metallframställning. Blankheten kan väcka många associationer hos betraktaren: en vattenytas skiftande glans, kromade detaljer på en bil, eller istappar som smälter i solen. Metallen reflekterar stadens och himlens ljus, årstiderna, stadens hus och de förbipasserandes spegelbilder.Silverträdet är en skulptur att slå sig ner vid, fundera över, kanske längta efter. Monika Gora är konstnären som utformat trädet. Hon bor i Malmö och är även verksam som landskapsarkitekt. Hon står bakom många offentliga konstverk både i Sverige och utomlands. Silverträdet är beställt av Luleå Kommun och Statens Konstråd tillsammans.

TANKAR KRING RONDELLER
I en rondell kör man runt. Någonting måste ge bilföraren anledning att just köra runt. Stora rondeller är mer begripliga än minirondeller eftersom de är påtagliga trafikapparater: man förstår direkt deras nytta. Men även här görs platsen lättare avläsbar om man kör runt någonting, inte bara runt ett tomrum.
Detta någonting kan vara en miljö eller ett objekt. De första gav vika för skogsdungen och bergknallen. Idag kör vi allt oftare kring objekt i form av ett konstverk.
Trafik är rörelse. Det som händer i rondellen bör vara enkelt och begripligt. Något man förstår direkt. Något konstant som inte förändras medan man kör, medan allt annat utanför rondellen förändras i rörelsen runt den.
En rondell ska synas på håll
Ett landmärke som fungerar alla årstider i ljus och i mörker.
Ett landmärke som förstärker platsens identitet.

A drop of light

In the winter of 1998, Gora temporarily transformed an almost too familiar space in the heart of Stockholm with A Drop of Light, a monumental balloon filled with artificial sunlight lying in front of the parliament building.
A balloon, 24 meters long and 12 meters high, filled with artificial sunlight in the winter darkness. Exhibition “Charged Light“/‘Laddat Ljus’, arranged within the context of ‘Stockholm — Cultural Capital of Europe 98’.

The landscape continues right through a hall with glass walls. The continuity is enhanced by scattered trees and sculptures. One of the trees inside the hall almost touches the closest tree outside. Anna målar konstant i det fördolda, i sin lilla lägenhet
Jag visar hennes aktivitet i utställning ANNA med avsikt att initiera en mötesplats för händelser och samtal, ett halvoffentligt rum som inbjuder till någonting. Bildskapande är Annas förflutna, en gång den dröm hon kämpade för att uppnå. När hela vår familj kom till Sverige 1969 var min mamma 44 år. Genom flytten tog hennes konstnärskarriär i Polen abrupt slut.
A vaste and undefined asphalt area, used as a car park and street, was transformed into a smooth, stone paved square defined by trees, special stone details, furniture and light. Commission by the municipality of Höganäs.

A continuous border of panels made of coloured glass, unifies the old and new buildings. The coloured glass reflects both daylight and artificial light. IOGT Helsingborg - redesign of the yard
When rebuilding of IOGTs old headquarter GORA created a new appearance of the yard. At the ground old and new materials are brought together. Original bricks and the supplementation with new ones inspired to create an accentuated zone of transition crossing the yard. The furniture are formed after the letters I O T and G, and are placed movable on the yard. A small roof of 10 coloured glass panels creates a contrast to the yellow-brown facades. The roof is illuminated in the evening. A Gingko tree is placed in the centre of the yard.

Monika Gora’s Jimmys tempt you with their glowing, luminescent orange colour, their organically curved, sweeping bumps and bubble shapes. They warm you up and make you happy. Who can resist them? They seem to have fallen out of a bag of candy: delicious and a bit disgusting at the same time. Tactile and physical. Animal abstractions. Obviously artefacts and yet personified life. During the day, when the sunlight penetrates their fibreglass skin, they appear transparent, like bodies with a life of their own. At dusk, in a grey and rainy days or i winter, they glow, and the darker it gets, the more they become overlapping silhouettes. In the autumn, their glow competes with the leaves of the trees.
