I denna märkvärdiga byggnads mörka inre tar sommarens konstnärer, sex till antalet, platsen i anspråk. I stora industrihallar eller små valv och utsprång ger konstnärerna platsen en ny innebörd. Med måleri, skulptur och videoproduktioner väcks den insomnade masugnen till liv, för att under några sommarmånader generera idéer, tankar och upplevelser.

TANKAR KRING RONDELLER

I en rondell kör man runt. Någonting måste ge bilföraren anledning att just köra runt. Stora rondeller är mer begripliga än minirondeller eftersom de är påtagliga trafikapparater: man förstår direkt deras nytta. Men även här görs platsen lättare avläsbar om man kör runt någonting, inte bara runt ett tomrum.

Detta någonting kan vara en miljö eller ett objekt. De första gav vika för skogsdungen och bergknallen. Idag kör vi allt oftare kring objekt i form av ett konstverk.

Trafik är rörelse. Det som händer i rondellen bör vara enkelt och begripligt. Något man förstår direkt. Något konstant som inte förändras medan man kör, medan allt annat utanför rondellen förändras i rörelsen runt den.

En rondell ska synas på håll

Ett landmärke som fungerar alla årstider i ljus och i mörker.

Ett landmärke som förstärker platsens identitet.

Town square in Höganäs

A vaste and undefined asphalt area, used as a car park and street, was transformed into a smooth, stone paved square defined by trees, special stone details, furniture and light. Commission by the municipality of Höganäs.

Design of the atrium and the street outside the building

A continuous border of panels made of coloured glass, unifies the old and new buildings. The coloured glass reflects both daylight and artificial light. The same panels appear outdoors in roof constructions for pergolas and a roof above the main entrance. Commission by the municipality of Örnsköldsvik.

Sketch for Rathenauplatz in Hannover

Sketch commission for the "KUNST-GARTEN-KUNST" exhibition at Sprengel Museum of Modern Art, Hannover. All together 13 different proposals for 13 different sites were exhibited. The participants in the exhibition are artists and landscape architects. The project was initiated by the Department of Parks in the City of Hannover.

When rebuilding of IOGTs old headquarter GORA created a new appearance of the yard. At the ground old and new materials are brought together. Original bricks and the supplementation with new ones inspired to create an accentuated zone of transition crossing the yard. The furniture are formed after the letters I O T and G, and are placed movable on the yard. A small roof of 10 coloured glass panels creates a contrast to the yellow-brown facades. The roof is illuminated in the evening. A Gingko tree is placed in the centre of the yard.

A research about acts of violence in Kalmar Stadspark, Sweden. A project in cooperation with the artist Lone Larsen.

GORA art&landscape har utformat Malmö Montessoriskolas nya skolgård. Fredagen den 29:e oktober anordnade kontoret en workshop i samarbete med skolan där 120 elever deltog tillsammans med ett 20-tal lärare och volontärer.

GORA art&landscape has been announced as winners in a Windart-competition in Rostock, Germany.

Extract from the jury statement:

Monika Gora takes the spectator on a visual and conceptual journey. How will the energy sources of the future look? The proposal, an extremely beautiful design, gives a viable suggestion for a possible shape of the energy sources of the future.

The studio will work with the sculpture during the winter 2011/12 and will be erected in May next year. Follow the updates here on our website or on Facebook.

Earlier this autum Monika Gora participated at Helsingborg city's "Konst på stan" with her project Pet the horse in a new edition. During the first week in October the citizens of Helsingborg had the opportunity to acend the statue of Magnus Stenbock on Stortorget in central Helsingborg. Read more about the project in the article of Helsingborgs Dagblad.

Monika Gora was choosen as one of three artist working with a courtyard at a new building ("BOIC") at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. The sketch will be submitted in the beginning of Feburary.

This week the studio was selected as one of the artist who is going to design an artistic proposal for the outdoor environment of the new stadium in Östersund. This is all very exciting, especially as we only have good experiences of working together with Östersund earlier. 

Here's our proposal for the competition of Anna Lindhs plats by the Central Station in Malmö. Unfortunately the jury did not find this as pleasing as the winning proposal but we still believe that this would have been a great sculpture for this landscape. It is named 'The Sandcastle' and represent a frozen moment during a phase of transition. A symbol for everybody's ability to create, a node in this central part of Malmö and a sensual and large form, visible from many spots in the surrounding area.

Among other artists and architects, from different parts of the world, Gunilla Bandolin and Monika Gora will take part in the exhibition Urban Play in Sødre Havn in Køge. Welcome to the opening of the exhibition on Friday afternoon/evening, the 4th of May, and explore the work Conservatory for Discarded Pianos by Bandolin and Gora as well the rest of the artworks on place!

The exhibition will be in Køge harbour from the 4th of May until the 15th of Septembre 2012. See Urban Play homepage for further information.  

ÄNGEN is the proposal made by Monika Gora for the courtyard at a new building (BOIC) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg. Gora was one of three chosen artists sketching on proposals for the site. ÄNGEN, the proposal for this long narrow yard, consists of lightning sculptures and vegetation, interplaying with the surrounding buildings and the shifting light at the place. The elements are not just situated on the ground but are also climbing on the roofs of the galleries making them visible from different heights in the buildings. Unfortunately the jury didn't choose ÄNGEN as the winning proposal.

Monikas utställning 'Min trädgård' som visats på Staffanstorps Konsthall sedan i somras är nu slut.  Publikationen 'Min Trädgård', som gavs ut i samband med utställningen, finns att läsa online på Issuu. Texterna ska nu översättas till tyska och engelska för att kunna visas i andra sammanhang.

GORA art&landscape just got back from Oslo where we are working in a team together with Gullik Gulliksen och Kristine Jensens tegnestue, in a parallel assignment regarding a 9km long walk along Oslos harbour.  The area is rather complex, with a variation of different typologies, stretching from container storages, by the opera house, to ports for cruise ships. The International Garden Show in Hamburg is opening on the 26th of April and we are exhited to show you one a part of our garden at the show. It is a new product, a garden slab that can be placed in groups or as a solitaire. It is manufactured by GH-form in Denmark and this picture is taken just after production, hence the light grey color - it will turn a bit darker. We'll release more information about our garden and participation at the show soon and we hope to see you there on the opening!

Monika Gora i samarbete med Karlstad Kommun bjuder in till allmän tävling om ett bildkonstverk på en cykelväg. Konstverket eller konstverken kommer att utföras med markeringsmassa och skulle kunna beskrivas som en horisontell teckning eller målning som man beträder och cyklar rakt över.

Tävlingen riktar sig till den som arbetar konstnärligt inom vitt skilda områden, från bildkonst och arkitektur till design.

Kulturnyheterna sände tisdagen den 5 februari kl. 19.00 ett reportage från Stockholm Furniture Fair 2013. I inslaget kan man bland annat se Kulturnyheternas reporter Dennis Dahlqvist spela på konstverket Conservatory for Discarded Pianos som konstnärsduon GORA&BANDOLIN ställer ut under mässan i Björns Trädgård mellan den 5-9 februari.
