Anna Lindhs plats - proposal

Here's our proposal for the competition of Anna Lindhs plats by the Central Station in Malmö. Unfortunately the jury did not find this as pleasing as the winning proposal but we still believe that this would have been a great sculpture for this landscape. It is named "The Sandcastle" and represent a frozen moment during a phase of transition. A symbol for everybody's ability to create, a node in this central part of Malmö and a sensual and large form, visible from many spots in the surrounding area.

Selected for an artistic proposal in Östersund

This week the studio was selected as one of the artist who is going to design an artistic proposal for the outdoor environment of the new stadium in Östersund. This is all very exciting, especially as we only have good experiences of working together with Östersund earlier.

Monika Gora was choosen as one of three artist working with a courtyard at a new building ("BOIC") at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. The sketch will be submitted in the beginning of Feburary.

Vunnen tävling

GORA art&landscape has been announced as winners in a Windart-competition in Rostock, Germany.

Extract from the jury statement:

Monika Gora takes the spectator on a visual and conceptual journey. How will the energy sources of the future look? The proposal, an extremely beautiful design, gives a viable suggestion for a possible shape of the energy sources of the future.

The studio will work with the sculpture during the winter 2011/12 and will be erected in May next year. Follow the updates here on our website or on Facebook.

Monika Gora publicerar ny bok

I december ger Monika Gora ut en bok, Light Volumes - art & landscape by Monika Gora.

Info in English:

In December Monika Gora will publish a book, Light Volumes - art & landscape by Monika Gora. Lisa Diedrich has been the editor and the foreword is written by Sune Nordgren.

Follow the story of a creative path: from observations and experiences through sketches and discussions to finished projects. What does a school in the countryside of southern Sweden have in common with some rocks in Australia? How can one transform 30-year-old diapers to an art experience? And how many rooms does it take to create a maze?

The projects of Monika Gora are based on her power of sensing, creating and understanding – without interference. In doing this, Gora escapes some still widely accepted disciplinary restrictions, as an artist she even escapes landscape architecture.

Additionally the book includes essays by Lisa Diedrich, Måns Holst-Ekström and Gunilla Bandolin with personal and professional reflections.

Take a look at this PDF from Birkhäusers catalouge with additional information.
